Day 248 – Shop With A Cop

8 Dec

The New Albany Police Department are always actively involved in giving back to the community and that is just one more reason that I have so much respect for each and every one of them. I have participated in Shop With A Cop in the past and it really is a wonderful experience. The police officers go around and pick up the kids that they are taking shopping in their police cars, drive them to the stores, take them shopping and then haul them off to a party after. These kids are so much fun to be around and so grateful and they have a blast with all the officers.

The kid that I shopped with was so practical…socks, underwear,Β  clothes, winter coat, new seat for his bike, and very few toys. It was so nice to see these children getting things they really needed. This is when I really start to feel like it is the holiday season and it was an honor to be part of it.

The photo I am using tonight cracks me up, this little guy really looks excited to get started πŸ™‚

Thank you to the NAPD for all the hard work you do and all that you give back to the community.

That’s a nice holiday tradition. I always get more pleasure shopping for those who really need it than shopping for someone who has everything.

    LOL what an expression!

If only all kids could be that practical! Glad you had a fun time doing this today. I’m still trying to find the holiday spirit! maybe I should buy a boot and kick myself in the ass with it.

Want me to kick you in the ass? I will!! πŸ™‚ I would do that for a friend.

Love the tradition!! What a wonderful memory these kids will have and what a great way to teach them that the Police men and women are really their friends.

I think the exact same thing. So many children grow up being taught to hate the police and that is so very sad.
