Day 110 – Road Less Traveled

23 Jul

A migraine set up camp in my head and still has its feet propped up on my sofa so today’s photo wasn’t taken today. It is however my photo so I figure it still counts for something.

I love roads and photos of roads leading up a path or lined with trees and lights. I see it done all the time and I always wish I could find a spot like some of the gorgeous photos I have seen floating around on the internet that make you stare at them forever because they don’t seem to end. I am still on the search for that perfect road but until then I will continue to have fun shooting all the other paths leading up to it.

I was happy with how the sun was peaking through the trees and hitting the ground in this shot as well as the path that seems to lead your eyes right up the center. Again I resisted the urge to convert this to b&w (Susan is alwaysΒ  in my head saying to me “DON’T DO IT” ) and I think the color version works best here as many of the details get lost in the b&w conversion. Do you other photographers out there have that one shot you are looking to find? If so please tell me about it.

Happy Friday everyone, I hope youΒ  have a fabulous start to your weekend.

I love this photo. I just stare at it and wonder down that road. It takes me away. Thank you.

You are very welcome my sweet friend. I know you need a few moments of peace and I am so happy to help.

Why does that road look so familiar?

Wonderful shot. I’m glad you kept it in color as well! The road does look like it goes on and on… I love roads like this as well πŸ™‚

Sorry about your migraine. I hope you’re feeling better!

I can’t imagine why it looks familiar πŸ™‚

Thank you for the kind words and I hope to kick this headache in the arse very soon.

That’s not your perfect road picture? It would be mine. I love the depth and perspective of it, how the sun dapples through the trees. And look, there’s a tiny bit of blue at the end. Is that sky?

    • mindymilburn July 23, 2010 at 12:16 pm #

Nope not the perfect one but I do like it. Thank you!!!

And yes it is the sky πŸ™‚

I am sure Mikey would love all of these visitors πŸ™‚ Thank you!

  6. Stasia July 23, 2010 at 10:42 am #

Wow! If that’s not a perfect road its gotta be pretty darn close!

I love this photo and you were right not to convert it to b&w. It would be too busy. You have a talent of making the outdoors so lush, B&W is for stark – this doesn’t need to be stark.

I feel for you & your migraines. I suffered for years and years and have finally beat my migraines. I hope that you do too.

It was WAY too busy πŸ™‚ Thank you for commenting my friends.

    • mindymilburn July 25, 2010 at 12:27 am #

I will try converting it and send you the file πŸ™‚

p.s. I am quite partial to b&w and it would be fabulous! πŸ™‚

I’d love to take a walk down that road, Mindy.

At the moment, my personal quest is to get good live music shots. After that? I don’t know.

    • mindymilburn July 25, 2010 at 12:27 am #

Ah, a girl after my own heart. Live music is my passion, my love and what I want to photograph when I grow up!

I really like when you write about your photos, make them more interesting. I took a shot today that I wanted for a long time, but it did not work so well. I wanted to register the trace of light into an amusement park but never found a running with the toys, now found in the road, but the environment was not the best, no security. But I still get this shot! Beijos!

I too search for that road. I know where mine is–in the Olympic Mountain Range in Washington State. I just need to go back there to photograph it.

I like this the way it is, but I know what you mean about the road going on forever. For this shot, I wonder if a lower angle would have given you the look you wanted–widened the road in the foreground, emphasizing the narrowness of the road as it disappears into the distance. Obviously, without being there, I don’t know if that would make a difference. Just a thought.

    • mindymilburn July 25, 2010 at 12:29 am #

I hope you get back there to get that shot one day. I still haven’t seen mine!

And it is good advice, maybe if I find myself on that road again I will try it!
