Day 35 – Happy Mother’s Day

9 May

I have to say that I am really digging doing these “theme weeks” as it gives me something to focus on rather than wondering around just looking for something to shoot.

The new theme for the week is repetition. I am almost obsessed with finding repeating patterns, shadows, objects, colors etc… in a shot and so I thought it would be fun to make it my theme for this week. I have no idea what draws me to patterns other than my crazy brain but any time I see a shot with that type of composition I am instantly intrigued and until you look for it you have no idea how many repeating patterns you see every single day of your life.

The shots for today’s blog are of course dedicated to my mother because it is Mother’s Day and because she is not only the best mom in the world but she is the most wonderful woman in the world. She loves flowers, well nature really,Β  but every birthday and Mother’s Day we usually end up at the nursery buying her some new flowers to plant around her house.

Happy Mother’s Day to all you wonderful women out there who do the hardest job on earth.

These pictures are gorgeous, almost as beautiful as you my sweet friend. I love the brilliant color and detail of the lilies and their leaves. Just beautiful. Your mom is a lucky woman to have you as her daughter. Mwah!

I like your theme weeks. I haven’t had the courage to try it yet, but I will. Eventually.

I especially like the day lilies in the top picture. The repetition is especially effective there.

Why are you shy of the themes? It really makes things so much easier I promise!

Depends on the theme, I guess. Let me think on it. Maybe we could try to organize all the Project 365 girls to do the same theme at the same time. That might be fun for a week, even if you and I are the only ones who do it.

See now, if it weren’t for you I’d see a bunch of pots and flowers. Now I see a repetitive pattern!! I love you, my Baby Girl! Say hi to your mom for me, she is a lovely lady indeed!

Ooooh I love the flower pot one! Nice! I hope you had a great time with your ma!

I love repetition in photos as well. Everything’s all lined-up nice… yes!

That’s so funny! I was at the nursery with MY Mom yesterday and I took the photo of the flowers (with my phone) which I posted to Facebook yesterday. Before I took that photo I totally thought of you because we walked into that greenhouse and there was just the huge patch of red flowers that were so bright it was just incredible. And I just KNEW if you were there with your camera, you would have taken a picture of them.

Then I come in and it turns out you were taking photos at the nursery too! Ha!
