All of you were so supportive when I posted about my mom having trouble with her heart that I wanted to share an update with you.
As you know she was having some issues with chest pain that worried us and we have pushed to get her to the doctor and she finally went. After that first appointment she was scheduled for a stress test that came back normal but that really wasn’t an okay result for us because she has had chest pains since she had her stents put in last June. Her heart doctor scheduled her for a heart catheterization on Thursday and unfortunately the results weren’t good and they want her to have bypass surgery.
We are all very scared because my mom is our world but she has the love and support of the best family in the world and her doctors and nurses have all been amazing. We met with her surgeon today and not only did he explain everything to us in a way that we could understand but he also took the time to tell us that he knows how scary it is and that they will take very good care of our mom. I can’t even begin to explain how much it meant to me to hear him say this. I know bypass surgery has become very common but it is still very serious and it is my mom. Until she is laying in bed recovering I am probably going to be sort of a mess.
So please say a prayer or keep her in your thoughts over the next few weeks and thank you again for letting me have a place to come and share not only the good times in my life but also the scary.
I hope all of my friends had a wonderful Christmas and Holiday weekend. First I want to thank you for the wonderful comments over the last few days. I know I haven’t responded but I read each and every one and I was so touched by some of the things that were said. I hope you guys know how much I appreciate you and how blessed I feel to have developed a wonderful friendship with you.
Now for the apologies, this photo wasn’t taken today because I have done nothing productive since I cleaned up the breakfast dishes lol. I just didn’t feel like dragging the camera out. Since we had our family Christmas yesterday, today was spent vegging and watching TV. It was a wonderfully lazy day and I finally got to watch “Salt” (which is a pretty darn good movie) and now we are all sitting in my moms living room watching a marathon of “Cake Boss”
I can’t wait to catch up with you guys and catch up on all my fellow blogger’s sites as well. I miss that daily connection but I will be back soon and thank you all for taking time out of your busy schedules to read my ramblings and always being so supportive.
I guess we can now say we officially pulled off the surprise. If you read yesterday’s blog you know that we took my sister out for girls night out for her 50th birthday but what she didn’t know is that we were throwing her a surprise party last night. I thought for sure she was going to find out because there are a few folks in the family that just can’t keep a secret but she swears she had no clue.
It was such a wonderful night, it even topped our girls night. We had a buffet of fantastic food, her favorite desserts, a DJ (my awesome uncle), photo collages of her growing up, a board dedicated to everyone tell her how much they loved her (equipped with messages from all of her out-of-town friends who couldn’t make it), a video montage, yummy sangria, dancing, and even a fall themed photo corner for everyone to get their pictures made (and yes I was volunteered to do the photographing LOL). My mom went all out with the fall theme decorations and the placed looked beautiful. Have I mentioned that we seriously have the most amazing mom in the entire universe?
It was a perfect night and she was so happy. Family and friends all showed up to show her how much we love her and I know she felt every ounce of it. We all cried when she walked in and she was overwhelmed, then we spent the rest of the night having as much fun as we could possibly stuff into one evening. It took a lot of work and help to pull of this shindig, mostly by my mom, but we would all agree it was totally worth it.
The first photo is her pumpkin cake that my niece took, and the leaves you see in front of it are on small cupcakes surrounding the cake. The second photo is my mom and my sister in the photo corner
Another birthday has come and gone (I still have the rest of the month right?) and for those of you that don’t know me I really like to celebrate me lol! I have never understood people who get depressed on their birthdays or want to pretend like they don’t have any after a certain age. I will celebrate until I can’t get up to celebrate and then I will have a party anyway.
I usually do a big birthday extravaganza with all my out of town girls and we have had some serious fun in the past but this year was pretty low key. I spent it with my family and it was exactly what I needed. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful group of people that surround me. We get together and it is comfortable, loving, and I always laugh. There isn’t anything in the world you can’t do with your family standing by you.
I got lots of goodies and lots of plants and flowers this year. Chris got me daisies, mom got be a pretty aloe plant, but my favorite has to be the Calla Lilies that Beth got me. It is my absolute favorite flower so I had to get a shot with my phone (oddly enough no one got out a camera the whole night) It was such a wonderful relaxing evening just being around the people I love and I thank them all from the bottom of my heart.
I also want to thank all of you for the birthday wishes on facebook, twitter, and all the wonderfully sweet text messages. I felt very loved today.
Since my theme this week has been about positivity and looking for things to be grateful for I couldn’t think of a better photo to share with you all than one of me and my baby nephew who I am so in love with.
Work has been riddle this week with disrespect, anger, and general negativity so when my sister called to say she was bringing Noah by to see me I was so excited. I knew that little face would bring so much joy to my day and would erase any bad memories from dealing with the crazy people in my city. I was right. I am so in love with this child that I can’t even begin to describe it. Of course I think he is adorable, he is my nephew, but he has the sweetest personality of any baby ever and I just want to snuggle his whole face off. He said “ball” for me (actually was an apple), and laughed, and gave me kisses, and held on to my ears like I was a pony, and just brought so much happiness to my day.
I am so thankful that I have such a wonderful and loving family and I am so extremely thankful for this beautiful little boy. Did I mention that I am kind of in love with him?

Today was an absolute fabulous day. I won’t bore you with all the details but it involved good friends, family, wine, a picnic, B.B. King and a wonderful fireworks show. The concert was by far the best part and I shared it with three of my favorite people in the whole world.
I have wanted to see B. B. King for a long time but it seemed like every time there was an opportunity something came up, well this time I made it to the show and it was well worth the wait, that man still has it at 84 and I haven’t enjoyed myself that much at a show in a while. We finished the night with a beautiful fireworks display set to a handful of great songs.
I am going to post a few from the show and one shot of the fireworks that I am in love with. I didn’t have a tripod so I had to try to do long exposure while holding my breath and trying not to move and I love how it turned out. The silhouette’s you see are concert goers standing at the top of s set of bleachers looking over to where the fireworks are being ignited and the red white and blue that frame them was a happy accident.
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and I would like to say a special thank you to all of the men and women who protect our freedom today and yesterday.

Just being fabulous

I know I am supposed to be doing motion this week but I have to take a break to post two shots of my baby nephew. My sister and I spent the afternoon with him after I told her that I would love to photograph him one afternoon and I just had to show two of the funny faces that he made of.
I am so in love with this kid that if he weren’t related to me his parents should be afraid I would take him I just want to snuggle him and munch on his little cheeks every time I see him. I took a ton of photos and I am still in the process of editing them but I wanted to show two of the ones that crack me up every time I look at them.
Baby Noah - 9 months
After a very long week of worrying about my mom it was nice to get together with the family to welcome my nephew Ryan home from Afghanistan. My sister and brother (Karen and Duane) had everyone over to their house on one of the hottest days in the history of days but we had a great time.
Thankfully for the children they had a little kiddie pool set up in the back yard so I thought I would share some of the photos of them playing with you. They seemed to be having a blast playing in the water as all kids do and the shots are just adorable, but you can’t really go wrong photographing kids playing in water.
Thank you to my family for a wonderful day, I love you all so very much!

As most of you know I spent the day at the hospital with my mom so I didn’t exactly have the opportunity to carry around a camera taking photos for the blog. My mom is doing good (thank you so much for all the love shown to her today) and is resting comfortably after having 4 stents put into her left artery due to blockage and will be will able to take her home tomorrow.
Once she was in her room and comfortable I did take out my cel phone and snapped today’s photo because it literally represents what our lives were consumed with today. How much time it took to prep her, how much time it was taking to do the procedure, the amount of time she had to lay flat without moving, how much time they would allow each of us to spend with her after the stent was inserted. Time was my whole world today and thanks to some wonderful doctors I feel I have much more of it with the most wonderful woman on earth.
Far too often it takes something like this to remind us to appreciate the time we have because it is a gift but reminded we were today and I am thankful for every second I get to spend with my family. Thank you all again for the texts, calls, messages and emails I can’t tell you how much it meant to all of us.
Time is Precious
